MoU to Promote Cooperation between Police Sports Association and Abu Dhabi Sports Council

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Tuesday, November 18th 2014

The Police Sports Association and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ in a bid to upgrade the level of the national sports sector. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the Police Sports Association.

HE Major General Al Rumaithi said, “The MoU signed between the Police Sports Association and  ADSC would help us to achieve our goals in terms of sports development, in cooperation with national sports institutions, while improving the wide variety of activities sponsored and organized by other associations across all fields.”

HE Major General Al Rumaithi praised the distinguished relations between the Police Sports Association and ADSC; highlighting the need for further sports cooperation through new methods of integration, in order to guarantee continued success and the coveted sports development.

The MoU was signed by Colonel Mohammed Hamid Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of the Police Sports Association and HE Aref Hamad Al Awani, ADSC’s General Secretary. According to the agreement, both sides shall cooperate and collaborate to foster their strategic partnership within the sports sector, as well as utilize their respective services.

Under the MoU, the Police Sports Association and ADSC shall cooperate in training and development programs; as well as in the executive aspects of work, such as exchanging technical and administrative expertise, information and knowledge; sports-related releases and publications; organizing mutual committees and teams; facilitating athletes’ participation in official championships and competitions; and leveraging both parties’ logistics.

The MoU allows both sides to exchange professional and administrative expertise; cooperate in sports training; prepare teams and competitions; take part in local and international championships; collaborate in organizing conferences, seminars, lectures, training courses, workshops and different activities; exchange invitations; and participate in sports and specialized championships, events, meetings and conferences. It also allows them to exchange plans, programs and activities; provide facilities, consultation and sports agendas; in addition to allowing each other to use sports utilities, facilities and equipment.

For his part, HE Al Awani said, “This agreement with the Police Sports Association was approved and endorsed by HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of ADSC board of directors. It embodies His Highness’ directives and valuable commitment to establish government partnerships, promote cooperation and exchange of experiences and expertise between sports institutions and associations, in order to benefit the sports sector across the country.”

HE Al Awani added, “This agreement represents a milestone and a powerful support to ADSC’s partners. This partnership will play a significant role in scaling up sports activities and events organized by the association for the police sports community. ADSC is exerting considerable efforts to expand its partnerships in order to support the different society segments with sports initiatives and awareness campaigns, aimed at encouraging Abu Dhabi community members to exercise more, as well as to reduce the risks of chronic diseases.”

The association is a leading national institution that plays an active role in sports and in society,” continued HE Al Awani. He praised the efforts of the Police Sports Association, led by HE Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and its leading role in supporting and promoting the sports movement.

In conclusion, HE Al Awani explained, “ADSC will dedicate its technical and administrative resources and expertise to reflect this successful partnership with the Police Sports Association. We will work together towards achieving our ambitions and goals.”

For his part, Colonel Al Dhaheri said, “The Police Sports Association and ADSC enjoy an integral relation, just like other sports institutions across the country. Therefore, signing this MoU represents the culmination of this reciprocal interdependent relation.” He also emphasized the importance of concerted efforts between all parties to enable the sports sector to deliver professional standards and achieve its objectives.”

The ceremony was attended by Mohammed S. Al Qubaisi, member of the board and a number of ADSC members.
