The Results of the First Round of the Police Director’s Cup

The first round of the third Seven-a-side Football Championship for the 2014-2015 season of the Capital Police Director’s Cup resulted with the Capital Police Department team placing in first with 15 points, followed by the Directorate General of Police Operations team placing second with 13 points.
The tournament, which was organized by the Directorate General of Police Operations at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), witnessed strong competitions among the eight teams at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, and was officiated by referees appointed by the UAE Football Association (UAEFA).
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate team placed third with eight points, while the Al Shabia Police Station team and Al Khalidiya Police Station team came in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with five points each.
The Secure Company team placed sixth with four points, while the Al Madina Police Station team and the Investigations Affairs Section at the Capital Police Directorate team placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with two points each.
The championship kicked off on 17 Nov. and will last for 14 days, with the eight participating teams representing both departments and police stations playing in the single round-robin tournament.
First Lieutenant Alawi Zain Mohammad, the Championship’s Media Manager, said that the championship has been attracting the attention of football fans, who have been choosing to attend the matches.
He pointed out that this championship, as with other sports organized by the Abu Dhabi Police, enriches the building of the bonds of trust amongst participants, promotes cooperation, and strengthens the friendly ties and closeness that exist between police staff members and their departments.
The Championship’s Media Manager expressed his happiness with the results of the first round of the championship. He stressed that this is a positive indication of cooperation and bonding between players.
In regards to the football championships, he also hailed the support of the police leadership and Brigadier Maktoum Al Sharifi, Director of the Capital Police Directorate, for offering all necessary provisions needed to ensure a proper conclusion and to achieve positive results alongside excellent benefits.
As per the results of the recent matches, First Lieutenant Alawi mentioned that the collectives matches between the Al Madina Police Station team and the Traffic and Patrols Directorate team resulted in a draw, with a score of 4-4; and between the Capital Police Department team and the Al Shabia Police Station team resulted in a win for the Capital Police Department team with a score of 1-0.
In addition, the match between the Al Khalidiya Police Station team and the Investigations Affairs Section team ended with a draw, while the Directorate General of Police Operations team beat the Secure Company team with a score of 3-0.
The championship comes as a part of the strategic objectives of the Directorate General of Police Operations and embodies its keenness to diversify the competitions; enhance communication, networking, and cooperation between the personnel; and to encourage the spirit of fair competition.
The participating teams are as follows: the Directorate General of Police Operations, the Capital Police Directorate, the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, Al Shabia Police Station, Al Khalidiya Police Station, Al Madina Police Station, the Investigations Affairs Section at the Capital Police Directorate, and the Secure Company.
It is worth mentioning that the third Seven-a-side Football Championship 2014/2015, as part of the Capital Police Director’s Cup, will be organized in collaboration with the Government Departments Sports Association.
