ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, November 19th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
A delegation from the Security Support Section at Abu Dhabi Police left the UAE en route to the United States of America, in order to review the latest practical practices adopted by the US Police. The visit also aims at measuring the remarkable capacities provided by the Security Support Section in carrying out its unconventional security tasks.
The ADP delegation included Lieutenant Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi, Chief of Security Support Section; Major Mohammed Mubarak Al Masa’bi, Security Support Patrols Branch Manager; Captain Mohammed Ibrahim Al Balas, Operations Planning Branch Manager; along with a number of officers and experts from the section.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Shamesi said, “The visit is in response to the wise directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, which stress the need to get closely acquainted with the tasks undertaken by specialized and leading police bodies in this area with a view to providing the Security Support Section’s staff members with further advanced hands-on expertise in areas of field work related to dealing with the public, as well as reports and patrol work so as to achieve security”.
Moreover, he stressed the keenness and interest of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior in qualifying human cadres and developing their capacities; commensurate with the Ministry of Interior’s overall strategic objectives. “The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ constantly exerts significant efforts to enhance its personnel’s technical and professional skills by providing highly efficient vocational training programs; so as to enable its staff members to achieve its vision in a way that ensures its strategic plans and achieves its objectives,” Lieutenant Colonel Al Shamesi added.
He also explained that the visit aims at exchanging common experiences between both parties, especially with Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD), Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. (MPD). He pointed out that police-related issues of common interest will be discussed, as well as the means to benefit from policing field experiences in security areas related to security support, police and legal areas adopted by various police units in the USA.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Al Shamesi, both parties will discuss several topics and police-related methodical programs; including academic, training, tactical, Informational, and operational programs. The Security Support delegation members will also participate hands-on in both air and ground tasks carried out by the American patrols.
It is worth mentioning that the Security Support Section at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, which was inaugurated in November 2013, travels for the first time to the United States on a two-week tour aimed at enhancing police relations between the two friendly countries. The Security Support Section is in charge of undertaking unconventional security missions and providing armed support to field police units. This would enhance public safety for the public as well as for police and security personnel.
