The Abu Dhabi Police GHQ showcased a number of old patrol cars as well as the Abu Dhabi Police’s new and old uniforms at the Heritage Village organized as part of the cultural events accompanying the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2014, at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which commenced on November 21 and concludes on November 23. The Heritage Village is held in cooperation with the Government Liaison Office at the Abu Dhabi Executive Council General Secretariat.
Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activity Section at the Abu Dhabi Police Clubs and Sports Activities Department, asserted that the police participation in this cultural event held on the sidelines of the biggest sporting event in the region, is part of their efforts to communicate and interact with the different segments of society and to acquaint them with the Abu Dhabi Police’s achievements. “Such events encourage and boost direct communication, which in turn, would enhance mutual trust and cooperation with different societal segments. It also represents one of the most important strategic objectives of the Abu Dhabi Police, embodies the higher leadership’s directives and establishes the modern concepts of police work and its societal role,” added Colonel Al Shamesi.
The exhibition is an opportunity to acquaint visitors with the evolution stages of the Abu Dhabi Police. A documentary film, in Arabic and English, provides visitors with an overview of the Abu Dhabi Police historic development, as well as of the old equipment and other old tools and vehicles used by police officers in the early stages of its establishment. The documentary also sheds the light on some of the various modern techniques and services presently provided to the public, which clearly showcase the extent of progress achieved by the Abu Dhabi Police. The Exhibition features also a photo gallery of a rare set of old photos documenting the historic stage of the Abu Dhabi Police evolution.
