Dubai Studio City and South Korea's Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA) discuss a collaborative approach and potential partnership going forward

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, November 16th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA), a South Korean government agency responsible for developing cultural content, recently visited Dubai Studio City (DSC) to view its latest production, broadcasting and animation facilities and services, and to discuss potential partnership and collaboration going forward.

The 20-person delegation from KOCCA, which included the organisation’s Executive Vice President and COO as well as the Global Marketing Team Manager, were given a tour of DSC’s three world-class Sound Stages, the largest in the region, one of which is 15,000 sq. ft. and two are 25,000 sq. ft. interconnected by a 30 metre elephant door. The delegation saw the latest in cutting-edge production and post-production infrastructure and facilities, including the region’s largest Green Screen technology and indoor water tanks.

The delegation heard first-hand from Jamal Al Sharif, Managing Director of Dubai Studio City and Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission, about the benefits of operating out of Dubai and DSC, as well as the key developments that have contributed to the Emirate’s thriving cultural, media and production landscape.

KOCCA was established in 2009 to support the growth of South Korea’s cultural industry and to make Korea a global content leader. KOCCA has built a comprehensive support system for companies across creative industries, including film and TV production, and are looking at Dubai and Dubai Studio City as a location to set up their business.

Commenting, Jamal Al Sharif said;

“There is a massive shift taking place in Dubai’s media landscape, and the Emirate’s connectivity, world-class infrastructure and facilities offer a serious competitive advantage for media and production companies. Dubai’s government has made the development of a sustainable, vibrant media and cultural ecosystem a focal point of its strategic vision for the future, and Dubai has gone from strength to strength as a cultural and creative hub.”

“KOCCA and DSC share the belief that vibrant creative industries are key to supporting the cultural development of a country or city, and I look forward to collaborating with KOCCA to support each other in driving creativity going forward.”
