Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, October 31st 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Ministry of Interior invited university students to attend the introductory forum that will be held next Monday at Al Raha Beach Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The forum, aims at acquainting students with the second edition of the Ministry of Interior’s Award for Smartphone Applications and at encouraging them to submit new ideas and innovations that would improve the services provided by the ministry to both citizens and residents of the UAE via smartphone applications.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations and Head of the E-Services and Smart Applications Team at the Ministry of Interior (MoI), noted that the forum will represent a perfect opportunity to acquaint students with the criteria, conditions and categories of the award. It will also provide students with an overview of the registration method and the evaluation process of the projects that will be submitted by candidates, which will be carried out according to highly professional standards.  Major General Al Raisi expressed his hope that all submitted projects will show a high level of quality and excellence.

Adding further, he said, “The second edition of the MoI award embodies the ministry’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with academic institutions in order to attract and support the innovative ideas that students come up with. It is also aimed at building and encouraging talents and innovation in order to enhance all services in all fields - the electronic and smart ones in particular.”

Major General Dr. Al Raisi also noted that the MoI Award for Smartphone Applications will include the category of ‘Best Innovative Ideas’ for university students and will be based on the best mobile service practices via the Mobile Government Guidelines, in addition to the specific standards of the MoI Awards for Smartphone Applications.
