Student Councils Forum Commences in Dubai

Under the patronage of HH Saif bin Zayed

A Student Councils Forum held under the title, ‘Positive Patriotism...Progressive Patriotism’, comprised of students from UAE universities, colleges, and institutes has been formed under the patronage of HH Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Dubai; and in cooperation with the Watani Al Emarat Foundation.

The day-long forum was held at the Dubai Men’s College and witnessed the participation of HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security; HE Tariq Hilal Lootah, Under-Secretary of Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (FNC); HE Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi, Director General of Watani Al Emarat Foundation; and Brigadier-General Mohammed Abdullah Al Mulla, Coordinator and Public Relations Officer of the National and Reserve Service Authority.

During the event, HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim said that a citizen is measured by his loyalty and sense of belonging, and any deviation from this path is unacceptable by the UAE community – for the UAE is a prime example of solidarity and cohesion throughout Arab history.

HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim called upon citizens to truly know their country and to sacrifice all precious things they own for the sake and benefit of the country. “A positive and progressive citizen is one who seeks to give more to his country without waiting for anything in return,” he added.

In a speech during the forum, Mohammed Omran Al Shamesi said that serving the homeland and the expression of belonging and loyalty to the leadership and dust of the UAE have become a role model for all countries in the world. He added that positive patriotism is actually reflected in the soul of every citizen and resident in this benevolent country.

Al Shamesi extended his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his continuous care and attention towards elevating the status of the UAE. He also thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who is working continuously to grant the country a distinguished status and to keep it in a leading positions in all fields.

The panel discussion held during the forum raised several issues related to positive patriotism and its values and true meanings. HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim spoke of the importance of being a role model, by showing his sense of belonging to the country and to his leadership, and by avoiding the duplication of distortion of concepts. He noted that the country cannot be divided, and therefore, everyone must show appreciation for what the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has established in this prestigious and caring country.

Tariq Hilal Lootah said that the UAE is approaching the FNC elections, which embodies the spirit of positive patriotism, where citizens should choose their representatives based on credibility and their sincere affiliation with the country, avoiding from favoritism and family ties.

Brigadier-General Mohammed Abdullah Al Mulla explained the role of the National and Reserve Service Authority in the development of the sense of patriotism in citizens.

During the panel discussion, HE Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi pointed to the important role of the committed citizen in building the future of the UAE and protecting its federation. He called to the necessity of focusing on the positive programs which raise the awareness of citizens and develop their contributions to the UAE.

The participating students expressed their deepest appreciation for the higher leadership of the UAE; especially His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, for his relentless interest in elevating the status of the UAE and its people. They expressed their appreciation for his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. They also expressed their utmost gratitude to Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for his patronage of Student Councils Forum.

ADP Mobile Dental Care Unit Provides Services to the Students

The ADP Mobile Dental Care Unit examined the teeth of the HCT Dubai students and provided treatment for many of the students who visited the unit, during their participation in the Student Councils Forum. 

The Mobile Dental Care Unit aims to alleviate the suffering faced by some segments of society by providing a police medical team to attend to their health needs and to spare them the hassle of visiting a hospital.

The unit provides its services to all communal segments and ages, and is equipped with a mechanical crane to enable people with disabilities to reach the dentist’s chair with ease. The unit spares no effort in reaching disabled people, wherever they are, in order to provide quality services.

The students expressed their appreciation to this gesture, which indicates the attention given by the police leadership to general health, in general, and oral health in particular. They also expressed their thankfulness for role of the unit in relieving the public from the hassle of dental treatments and long wait times.
