A delegation from the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, led by Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi, Director General of Naturalization, visited the Zayed Center for Care and Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs to take part in the event organized by the center on the occasion of the Universal Children's Day. The visit falls within the initiatives carried out by the Hawa (Eve) Committee aimed at enhancing communication with civil society institutions and partners for the benefit of all parties.
Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashidi stressed the higher leadership’s keenness and commitment to providing all of the necessary requirements to ensure children’s happiness because they represent the real wealth of the nation and the pillars of its future. He also highlighted the universal attention dedicated to all issues involving children, whereas the 20th of November of each year has been established to celebrate Universal Children's Day, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1959.
Brigadier Al Rashidi and the accompanying delegation toured the center’s facilities, notably the vocational training section’s celebration halls and workshops. They also watched a number of sports performances and heritage shows presented by children with intellectual disabilities and Down’s syndrome. A number of children also made a mud replica of the UAE flag with the participation of a number of officers.
For her part, Fatima Ahmed Al Menhali Chief of the Vocational Training Section, gave a brief overview of the tasks and duties carried out by the section, as well as the age groups that are being qualified and trained so as to enable them to acquire skills and experience through heritage products and handicrafts with the goal of integrating children with special needs into society.
Towards the end of the visit, commemorative shields and gifts were exchanged between both parties.
During the visit, Brigadier Al Rashidi was accompanied by Colonel Awad Ahmed Al Marar, Head of the Naturalization Department; Captain Nadia Al Muhairi, Chief of the Media and Public Relations Section at the Directorate General of Naturalization and Chairman of the Hawa (Eve) Committee; and First Lieutenant Zainab Al Saffar, from the Directorate General of Resources and Support Services, Media and Public Relations Section at the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs.
Mrs. Haya Abdullah Al Hammadi, Director the Center, welcomed the delegation upon their arrival, along with a number of officials from the Zayed Center for Care and Rehabilitation of People with Special Needs in Abu Dhabi.
