The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman, hosted the second Partners’ Forum for the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs sector on Monday at the Kempinski Hotel in Ajman.
Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Acting Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, said that the services offered by the Ministry of Interior account for 25 percent of all of the federal government services, availing the various segments of society across the UAE. He noted that the ministry is endeavoring to further reinforce partnerships with ministries, federal agencies and the private sector, in pursuance of the police leadership’s directives, aimed at promoting customer service.
In his speech, delivered on his behalf by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, he said that such partnerships are instrumental in the quest towards achieving the strategic objectives envisioned by the Ministry of Interior, locally, regionally, and internationally.
Adding further, he said, “The Naturalization, Residency and ports Affairs sector highly values the active and distinguished role undertaken by our partners, and we are keen on constantly communicating with them as we seek to achieve the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Interior, and fulfill its vision of making the United Arab Emirates one of the world's highly secure and most safe countries. Our partnerships are achieved through integration and consistency in an effort to produce the best methods in terms of performance and service provision, based on the latest techniques and standards in organizational excellence, as well as cognitive engagement through the transfer of expertise and exchange of ideas and proposals.”
Major General Al Khaili also noted that the second Partners’ Forum for the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs sector has shed the light on the best practices applied in the field of partnership, as well as the outcomes yielded by these partnerships and how they impacted the development of services provided by the sector, by establishing a road map to enhance customer service, in a way that supports our efforts to implement the Ministry of Interior strategic plan for 2014- 2016.
The forum was attended by Brigadier General Dr. Abdullah bin Sahoo Al Suwaidi, Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah; Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Alwan, Director General for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman; and Brigadier Saeed Rakan Al Rashedi, Head of Naturalization Department; along with a number of directors general from the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs sector; senior officers from the Ministry of Interior; heads of departments and sectors at the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.
A number of specialized papers were discussed at the forum, providing an in-depth look at the issues and models of partnerships. Ibrahim Abdulhak, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented a paper about the project related to the establishment of Visa Issuing Centers for the country’s overseas delegations, including an overview of the project and its different stages. The paper indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has already opened visa issuance centers in several countries to provide all related administrative services. He also noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to deploy these centers in other countries, and highlighted the most important procedures that are being carried out at this stage.
In the second paper, Colonel Dr. Ahmed Al Noman, from the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman, tackled the Directorate General’s experience and partnership with the Ajman Free Zone. He said, “This institutional partnership agreement has been signed between both parties back in 2010. By 2011, as many as 21 customer-related operations were developed, which in turn, has contributed to increasing both parties’ customer satisfaction to 88% by the end of 2013; according to the results published by Ajman Excellence Program.
Adding further, he indicated that the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman and the Free Trade Zone authority are working together efficiently to build a prosperous future for the emirate of Ajman, as well as to provide security support for the emirate’s economy. It is worth mentioning that work is currently underway to establish an instant online system for the Naturalization, Residency and Ports services by which both parties’ customers can avail all these services online.
In the third paper, Lieutenant Ahmed Mohammed Al Ali, from the Ministry of Interior, discussed the partnership between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Labor with respect to e-linking. He spoke about the new online protocols by which work permits are issued by the Ministry of Labor and sent to Naturalization departments across the country. He also highlighted the benefits of e-linking between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Labor, which ensures a speedy completion of customers' transactions and allows them to follow-up on their procedures.
In the fourth paper, Captain Omran Al Ali, from the Directorate General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, reviewed the partnership and cooperation experience between Dubai Residency and the Dubai Health Authority; highlighting the positive outcomes that resulted from initiating this partnership.
Towards the end of the Forum, the most prominent strategic partners on the level of the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Sector were honored.
