ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Thursday, December 17th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The Directorate General of Civil Defense in Abu Dhabi announced the implementation of a new myriad of smart programs aimed at promoting its efforts to develop its work based on the principles of security and stability. According to the Ministry of Interior's strategy, this is achieved by reducing the standard response time, curbing losses of lives and properties, and enhancing the community's confidence in the services provided.

The Directorate has proceeded to elevate the work efficiency of the members of the civil defense's teams by using information and communication technology, and investing it in developing performance; and carrying out rescue tasks faster and with minimal losses.

Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense underlined that these initiatives come in response to the directives of the higher leadership; to encourage and motivate creativity and innovation amongst staff members. "They also contribute to strengthen capacities and readiness in fire-fighting, by harnessing modern technology, and implementing the best methods and means to enhance the efficiency of staff members and develop their skills," explained Al Ansari. He also stressed that these actions achieve our vision and our strategy in promoting security and safety in our society.

It is noteworthy that the Smart Leadership Program is one of the programs designed to serve the field leaders in the Civil Defense. It includes 46 guidelines (519 web pages), and provides procedures for dealing with the various fires and flammable materials. It also provides a series of measures to prevent potential risks threatening rescue teams working on the ground.

Furthermore, the "Smart Referral" program was developed to provide a range of interactive maps for the locations of the various civil defense and fire stations departments across the UAE. This system determines the best and fastest way to get to the scenes, taking into account traffic jams and roads conversion. It is linked with satellites and offers audiovisual communications that enable reaching the scenes.
