Strong Demand from Oracle Licensees Fuels 57% Billings Growth for Rimini Street's Oracle Support Services

Company more than doubles billings for JD Edwards, Oracle Database and Oracle Hyperion and also triples revenue for Oracle Database support

SAN FRANCISCO - Wednesday, October 28th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Rimini Street, Inc., the leading independent provider of enterprise software support services for SAP SE’s (NYSE:SAP) Business Suite and BusinessObjects software and Oracle Corporation’s (NYSE:ORCL) Siebel, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, E-Business Suite, Oracle Database, Oracle Middleware, Hyperion, Oracle Retail and Oracle Agile PLM software, today announced the continued year-over-year growth in Rimini Street support for Oracle products as reflected in billings and revenue. Billings increased by 57% across all Oracle products in the 12-month period ending September 30, 2015, compared to the prior 12-month period, led by strong adoption of Rimini Street independent support by Oracle licensees on a global basis. In particular, billings for the JD Edwards, Oracle Database and Hyperion product lines increased by 133%. Also, combined annual revenue for Rimini Street support for Oracle products grew by 40% in the same time period. This increase was propelled by the more than tripling of revenue for Rimini Street support of Oracle Database during the same 12-month period.

Continued Expansion of Oracle Product Line Portfolio

As part of its global business plan and strategy, Rimini Street continues to invest in the expansion of its Oracle product support coverage across a wide range of mission-critical enterprise software. Most recently, the Company announced the availability of maintenance and support services to cover Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) products, and that it has already been successfully providing this support to companies.

Today, Rimini Street supports nine Oracle product lines and continues to experience rapid growth and global adoption across a broad range of industries, from midmarket and public sector organizations, to large complex Fortune 500 companies and multinationals.

Recent Survey Findings Reveal Oracle Licensees’ Top Challenges with Oracle Support

Rimini Street recently conducted its second annual global survey of Oracle licensees, which revealed the top challenges respondents face with Oracle annual support and maintenance inefficiencies. Upgrading to the latest release to resolve their support issue was the top challenge for licensees, followed by other time- and labor-intensive activities, including having to explain the same issue multiple times, reproducing the issue to prove its validity, finding a specific fix from a support pack bundle and being required to try all self-service options first.

Rimini Street launched operations 10 years ago with support for Siebel CRM, and has been focused on developing the most relevant, value-driven support solution that addresses many of the top challenges voiced by licensees surveyed in Rimini Street’s poll. This includes an assigned Primary Support Engineer (PSE) available 24x7x365, guaranteed response times of 30 minutes or less, as well as support for customizations at no additional cost and support for a guaranteed 15 years on existing software applications with no required upgrades. Clients who leverage Rimini Street’s premium-level support model are able to save up to 90 percent in total overall support costs and repurpose significant savings back into IT and other critical initiatives that make a major impact.

“Every CIO’s challenge is trying to do more with less. In the case of the American Cancer Society, every dollar that I can take back is a dollar that can go towards valuable life-saving research and initiatives,” said Jay Ferro, chief information officer, American Cancer Society. “So from a pure cost standpoint, our decision to move to Rimini Street was the right one to make. When you add in the breadth of support, the high quality of their support team and their responsiveness, it is clear that Rimini Street delivers better value.”

“The continued growth and momentum of our Oracle product line over the past 12 months is a direct result of the value our clients are experiencing with their switch to Rimini Street support,” said Seth Ravin, Rimini Street CEO. “We have spent a decade investing in, developing and delivering an innovative, industry-leading support model that clients rely on for support of their mission-critical Oracle systems. Rimini Street remains committed to delivering the best value in the enterprise software support industry and continuing to help our clients achieve their IT and business goals.”

Nordson EFD Launches Innovative P-Jet Non-Contact Jetting Technology for Higher Throughput Yields

Extremely precise, repeatable micro fluid dispensing achieved with ease-of-use and durability built into the rigorously-tested design

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Wednesday, October 28th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nordson EFD, a Nordson company (NASDAQ: NDSN), the world’s leading precision fluid dispensing systems manufacturer, introduces a new series of pneumatic non-contact dispensing systems. The P-Jet and P-Dot valves and V100 controllers jet low- to high-viscosity fluids with great precision and repeatability. They are designed for use in many types of applications and multiple industries including automotive, electronics, aerospace, and medical.

The launch of the P-Jet and P-Dot comes with EFD’s recent acquisition of Liquidyn, a Germany-based company that designs and manufactures non-contact micro dispensing valves. The company was founded in 2006 by two German engineers looking to provide manufacturers more efficient fluid dispensing options.

Benefits of the P-Jet include dispensing frequencies of up to 280Hz with dispensable volume starting at 3 nL. Both the P-Jet and P-Dot feature exchangeable nozzles and dispensing tappets to adapt to different kinds of applications. Both are easy to use and maintain featuring wetted parts that are separate from the actuator. They require low voltage of 24 V and maximum fluid pressure of 87 psi (6 bar) to operate, which are important when evaluating safety considerations. In addition, the valves can be easily integrated into production lines.

Pneumatic non-contact dispensing technology benefits include:

Time savings due to easier positioning of the part and high dispensing frequency and accuracy
Reduced part damage and contamination due to there being no contact with the part
Uniform fluid deposits independent of part topography and surface structure
Easy, safe adjustment of dispensing volumes
    Process control

The P-Jet dispenses low- to medium-viscosity fluids such as solvents, oils, greases, silicones, paints, and fluxes in beads and lines. Common applications include filling, potting, sealing, and coating. The P-Dot dispenses higher viscosity fluids such as adhesives, lacquers, oils, greases, silicones, and fluxes in dots, beads, and lines. Attaching very small electronic components (SMD parts) onto printed circuit boards and substrates is a good application example.

“The P-Jet and P-Dot non-contact jet valves offer manufacturers a fast, simple way to generate precise, repeatable micro-deposits for even the most demanding dispensing processes,” said Peter Langer, Nordson EFD Business Unit Director – Valves. “These valves are designed to last a long time with extremely low maintenance.”

The new P-Jet and P-Dot are being featured along with other innovative EFD products recently released, including the PICO® Pµlse™ non-contact jet valve and PICO Toµch™ controller, xQR41 MicoDot™ needle valve, and Pro and EV series automated dispensing systems, at The Assembly Show (booth 823), Oct. 27-29, in Rosemont, Illinois USA.

CHEST: New Sub-Analyses Show Improvement in COPD Patient Outcomes with Spiolto® Respimat®

INGELHEIM, Germany - Wednesday, October 28th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

Studies show significant improvement with Spiolto® Respimat® in lung function across a range of age groups of patients* with COPD studied compared to tiotropium, olodaterol and placebo1
Additionally, night-time rescue medication use and shortness of breath has been reduced with Spiolto® Respimat®2,3

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Boehringer Ingelheim today announced the presentation of several new post-hoc analyses from the TONADO® 1&2 and OTEMTO® 1&2 studies at the American College of CHEST Physicians Annual Meeting in Montreal. One analysis showed significant lung function improvement, as measured by FEV1 AUC0–3, with once daily Spiolto® Respimat® in COPD patients* across a range of age groups, including those over 65 years of age.1 In addition, a second analysis indicated that Spiolto® Respimat® reduces the frequency of night-time rescue medication use, as measured by puffs needed per night2 and these reductions were sustained for up to 52 weeks. In a third analysis the improvement of dyspnea (or shortness of breath), as measured by the Transition Dyspnea Index (TDI), was shown in COPD patients, compared to tiotropium, olodaterol and placebo.3

From early in the course of COPD, decreasing lung function makes it more and more difficult for patients to breathe. When many patients are first diagnosed their condition is already declining rapidly. To cope with feeling breathless, patients reduce their activity and change their lifestyles. Once symptoms start to prevent normal daily activities there is a downward spiral of reduced physical activity leading to worsening symptoms, further dyspnea and even further sedentary behavior.4 This in turn results in a large physical and emotional impact on people living with the disease.5

“The post-hoc data presented at the CHEST meeting demonstrate that Spiolto® Respimat® may provide improvement across several important clinical outcomes. These results further support the evidence of the benefit of using Spiolto® Respimat® in patients requiring COPD maintenance treatment. Providing optimal treatment right from the start of maintenance therapy can give patients the best chance of managing their symptoms, keeping active and limiting their need for rescue medication ”, said Dr William Mezzanotte, Vice President and Head of Respiratory Medicine at Boehringer Ingelheim.

The most common adverse events in the TONADO® 1&2 and OTEMTO® 1&2 studies were nasopharyngitis (common cold), cough and back pain.

Enevate Announces Ultrafast Charging Feature for Its Li-ion Batteries

HD-Energy® batteries capable of 90% charge in 15 minutes and with increased energy density

IRVINE, Calif - Tuesday, October 27th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Enevate Corporation, a technology leader in Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, announces ultrafast charging for their batteries with HD-Energy® Technology. Enevate’s ultrafast charging feature has been demonstrated to provide a 90% charge in 15 minutes (4C charge rate) while increasing energy, capacity and performance when compared to today’s conventional Li-ion batteries.

Headquartered in Irvine, California, Enevate has developed advanced Li-ion batteries based on new materials and cell designs with significantly higher volumetric and gravimetric energy density in thinner and lighter form factors, and with significantly higher charging rates than current conventional Li-ion batteries. Enevate’s novel HD-Energy Technology utilizes silicon-dominant composite anodes for rechargeable Li-ion polymer batteries which dramatically increases energy density by 25-50% over conventional graphite anode cells – giving over a decade of technology advancement as compared to the current rate of improvement of Li-ion technology. Enevate’s new batteries enable smartphones, tablets, ultra-thin notebook PCs, and drones with longer runtimes in less space and weight.

“Enevate continues to add new performance tiers to our technology. Ultrafast charging is another Enevate breakthrough,” said Brian Wong, CEO of Enevate. “Now you can charge your phone in the time it takes to get a cup of coffee – and also have more energy and capacity too.”

“The charge rate of Enevate batteries can be 5-10 times faster than conventional batteries due to multiple reasons, including faster kinetics of silicon,” said Dr. Benjamin Park, Founder and CTO of Enevate. “Enevate’s unique silicon Li-ion batteries deliver both ultrafast charging and high energy density at the same time. The batteries are resistant to lithium plating during charging which allows for cycle life to be maintained even with high charge rates.”

For example, a 3000 mAh Enevate battery with HD-Energy Technology using a 12 Amp charge (4C rate) achieves 90% capacity in 15 minutes with no degradation in energy or capacity. Using a 6 Amp charge (2C rate), the same 3000mAh Enevate battery charges to 90% in 25 minutes.

“Our customers have found ultrafast charging at this speed to be highly valuable to differentiate their mobile devices and are excited to quickly implement this feature into their products,” said Jarvis Tou, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Products at Enevate. “Enevate’s batteries and technology change how people will use their mobile devices while enhancing their device capabilities.”

About Enevate (www.enevate.com)

Enevate Corporation is an advanced rechargeable energy storage company focused on next generation mobile devices and drones with global headquarters in Irvine, CA. Enevate’s batteries with breakthrough HD-Energy Technology deliver significant performance improvement over conventional Li-ion batteries. Investors include Mission Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Tsing Capital, Infinite Potential Technologies, Presidio Ventures – a Sumitomo Corporation company, and CEC Capital. Dutch Cyclist Praises UAE People in British Magazine

Following a Noble Humanitarian Gesture by Abu Dhabi Police Female Staff Member

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Sunday, October 25th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

UK’s biggest cycling magazine, Cycling Weekly recently published an article penned by world famous Dutch cyclist, Theo Bos, by which he praised the noble manners and ethics of the UAE people. Bos told the magazine about his personal experience after suffering a minor accident while participating in the Abu Dhabi Tour.

Elaborating on the details of the incident, 32-year-old Theo Bos, explained that he fell off his bike into stage two of the race, and was transferred by ambulance to an Abu Dhabi hospital for treatment. He said: “After receiving the proper treatment, I went to the pharmacy so that I could buy the prescribed medicine. When I reached out to pay, I remembered that I had no money, because I was wearing my sports suit. An Emirati lady who was waiting in line with her son understood my dilemma and insisted on paying the bill; saving me from an embarrassing situation.”

Bos continued: “I took the medicine and waited in front of the hospital for my teammates to pick me up and drive me back to the hotel where we were staying, but nobody came for me. I was trying to get a taxi when the same local lady, who turned out to be an employee at Abu Dhabi Police called Afraa Al Muhairi, insisted to take me to the hotel in Yas Island in her private car.”

Adding further, Bos said: “At first I felt a bit embarrassed, but again she insisted. There was an empty seat next to the driver, and I needed to get back to my teammates, so I accepted her help. More surprisingly, she insisted on giving me her mobile phone to call my mother in Holland and reassure her. On top of it all, she told the driver to stop at a restaurant and bought me food and water. This kind of gesture reflected the cultured noble humanitarian values of the welcoming people of the UAE, and their high sense of ethics that we rarely see in other countries.”

The Security Media Department’s officials made a phone call to inquire about the health of Theo Boss, who had returned to Holland. Bos said that he had fully recovered and that he was planning to visit the UAE again to acquaint his fiancée with this generous country and its noble and kind people. He also confirmed his wish to meet Mrs. Afraa Al Muhairi to thank her for her generous gesture, and indicated that she represents what all women around the world should be like.

Commenting on the incident, Colonel Mubarak Awadh Mubarak bin Muhairom, Director General of Community Protection and Crime Prevention at Abu Dhabi Police said: “Such noble gestures are no stranger to the sons and daughters of Zayed, or to the police staff members. Such incidents are a common occurrence, only a few come under the spotlight. The UAE people are used to doing good deeds, but they don’t try to show it off. This reflects their genuine Arab ethics and values, and their good will to do what they consider a natural duty towards others.”

For her part, Afraa Al Muhairi, staff member at the Finance and Support Services at Abu Dhabi Police stressed that any Emirati woman would do the same in similar situations, driven by the values and ethics that she inculcated. “These ethics stem from our traditions and religion, which call for helping the needy and being generous to our guests,” she added. She also expressed her happiness and pride for the Dutch cyclist’s reaction, which mirrored a mere fraction of the genuine ethics and behaviors of the Emirati people.

Government-Funded Satellite Broadband Pilot Shows Positive Results in the UK

More than 60 percent of participants in the initial free trial have now signed up for the service

LUXEMBOURG & LONDON - Tuesday, October 27th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SES S.A. (NYSE Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG), one of the world’s leading satellite operators, today announced that the suitability of satellite broadband for connecting the UK’s final five percent of people has been confirmed – after Satellite Internet, a leading Internet Service Provider, revealed new figures that showed a UK Government-funded pilot programme testing the technology has demonstrated positive results.

Superfast Satellite for Communities (SS4C) is based on SES Techcom Services’ Astra Connect for Communities solution, which uses a Satellite Distribution Node (SDN) feeding a fixed wireless access network to provide homes with superfast broadband. Any premises outside the wireless network range are fitted with a Direct-to-Home (DTH) dish on the wall and connected via individual modems.

The solution was initially installed in Luxborough – where 61.5 percent of people participating in a free one-month trial have chosen to sign up to a one-year contract. It was subsequently rolled out to Simonsbath, where free trials are ongoing, and Priddy, which is currently in the community engagement phase. Both Luxborough and Simonsbath have a population of about 100 households and are located in Exmoor National Park, Somerset, while Priddy with more than 200 homes is in the county’s Rodney Stoke Nature Reserve.

“With its mixed methodology of SDN and DTH, the SS4C superfast broadband delivery model is fully scalable and can cover any geography, thus offering a 100 percent premises coverage in all but the most unlikely and extreme of cases,” said Mike Locke, Managing Director at Satellite Internet. “The feasibility of broadband provision over satellite is not in the least constrained – technically or commercially – by sparse population density, community remoteness or challenging geography. It can therefore play a full part to meet the needs of users who cannot be reached by more traditional Internet delivery, making it an ideal solution for the final five percent challenge faced by Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK).”

Satellite Internet was selected for the project by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in June 2014 after applying for funding from BDUK’s £10 million Innovation Fund. The provider has worked closely with Connecting Devon and Somerset, a public-private partnership of six local authorities set up to deliver superfast broadband infrastructure to areas where commercial investment plans are absent.

SES Techcom Services has itself successfully rolled out more than 60 Astra Connect for Communities networks in Germany’s Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Baden-Wurttemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate states, with additional communities awaiting deployment.

“Satellite is proven to be a reliable, cost-effective solution and this project represents a major step in providing broadband access for all in the region,” said Gerhard Bethscheider, Managing Director at SES Techcom Services. “It also demonstrates that satellite technology is vital in accelerating broadband roll-out.”
