MoI Delegation Reviews Best Practices at the British Punitive Establishments and Naturalization and Ports Sector

A delegation from the Ministry of Interior, headed by Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, recently visited the UK’s Inspectorate of Constabulary office for Punitive Establishments. During the visit, the delegation reviewed the workflow and the best international practices adopted at the Punitive Establishments and Naturalization and Ports Affairs in the UK; in order to avail these experiences, keep abreast of changes and developments, and ensure sustainable development.

The visit aims to exchange expertise, information, referencing comparisons, and benchmarking. It also aims to review mutually beneficial exchanges of practical applications, to harness human and technical capabilities to transfer knowledge, avail the unique experiences, and examine the referencing comparisons mechanism with other establishments, in a way that would ultimately reflect on enhancing the role of self-regulation across the various department and enhance the services provided to the public.

Major General Dr. Al Raisi and the accompanying delegation met with a number of officials from the UK’s Inspectorate of Constabulary of Punitive Establishments. During the meeting, both parties reviewed the activities and the areas of work at the office, which was established in the early 1800s.

Moreover, both parties discussed the office’s role in the punitive establishments’ inspection, the mechanism of dealing with observations, and the methods used for risk analysis. The delegation was also briefed on the work mechanism followed and met with the Inspector General.

In conclusion, Major General Dr. Al Raisi and the accompanying delegation met with the General Committee concerned with major grievances, where they were briefed about the mechanism implemented to handle major grievances, the multiple communication channels, and the mechanism used to refer reports to relevant parties for further follow-up.
