Intra Energy Corporation (ASX:IEC) has completed a maiden JORC resource of 23.9 million tonnes for its Kopakopa coal project in northern Malawi.
This follows last week's announcement by Intra that it had inked an agreement to supply coal to a major cement producer in Tanzania from its Tancoal Energy local company.
Today's resource base comprises 3.5 million tonnes Measured Resources, 4.9 million tonnes Indicated and 15.4 million tonnes Inferred.

Gemcom’s Minex geological modelling software was used to carry out geological modelling, with coal resources including all seams from subcrop to 250 metres depth.

The Kopakopa project covers sediments belonging to the Karoo Super Group, the largest sedimentary stratigraphic unit in southern Africa.

Kopakopa is one of several resource areas within Intra's concessions in Malawi, with ongoing exploration to result in further resources being brought to JORC standard over the coming year.
