Souq Al Jubail Awarded the Extraordinary Accolade for World's Largest Lantern by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™

Standing over 15metres high, the impressive structure is an exact replica of an actual lantern

Souq Al Jubail, Sharjah’s largest fresh produce market and a development project of Sharjah Asset Management (SAM), has achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Largest lantern.

The lantern, which was designed and built by Global Event Management Group, is located at the entrance to the Souq and stands at exactly 15.5 metres high and 5.6 metres wide. In accordance with GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS guidelines the working structure is an exact scaled replica of an actual lantern and casts a gorgeous, warm glow over the entrance to the market.

Speaking on the award, Ali Al Suwaidi, Director of Souq Al Jubail, said: "We were absolutely thrilled when we received the news that we had been awarded theprestigiousGUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title . The lantern, which now stands as an iconic new landmark at the waterfront of Sharjah, will bring even more people to the market to enjoy our high-quality, cost-effective produce from the farm and sea. The lantern has been on display since the 27th of June and will be a permanent feature at the Souq."

The unveiling of the lantern will form part of Souq Al Jubail's ongoing Ramadan Festival, which is offeringgreat deals and evening entertainment throughout the holy month. The festival, which also features performances and loads of prizes to be won, will conclude at 10:30pm on Saturday, 9th July.

The Souq Al Jubailis located close to Sharjah’s Central Marketand boasts spectacular views over Khalid Lagoon and other city landmarks.
