Mobilisation and Innovation for the 30th Edition of CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS, a Singular Edition, Tinged with Emotion

CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS 2015

PARIS - Thursday, December 3rd 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This year’s CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS took place from 17 to 19 November in the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition centre in unusual circumstances. In the aftermath of the tragic events in Paris of 13 November, which impacted us all, the exhibitor and visitor figures published in the traditional end-of-event press release reflect the resilience that participants wished to demonstrate at this time.

Despite the tragic events on 13 November 2015 in Paris, CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS confirmed that it remains the must-attend event in the trust technologies industry.

Over 3 days, the world's Number 1 event in payment and identification technologies attracted a total audience of 15,090, including 1,800 CE0s. 135 countries were represented, making for turnout that was 77% international. 394 companies, 82% from abroad, exhibited their line-ups.

A place for doing business, interacting and engaging in reflection CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS 2015 offered an ideal setting for shared reflections and discussion about key issues and prospective responses, including numerous special talks that combined to offer a 360° view of the market.

The event started with a bang, as Uri Levine, Co-Founder of Waze and Feex, took to the stage as the Opening SUMMIT's keynote speaker. He is a serial start-upper, having sold his first start-up for over USD 1 billion to Google. The CEOs of Spire, Infineon Technologies, Entrust Datacard and Worldline were also on the scene to share their vision of the sector.

A schedule bursting with more than 100 conferences on current and prospective issues featured 139 speakers. The three topics that attracted the largest audiences this year were:

HCE & Tokenization: What Role for the Secure Element?
e-Documents & e-ID as Drivers for Cross-Sector and Border Digital Services
New Business Models: What Impact on the Banking, Telco & Retail Industries?

11 Trophées SESAMES Awards were given on 17 November, including one Golden SESAMES, which went to Infineon for OPTIGA™ Trust E – enabling the IoT, a turnkey secured solution for automated industrial systems in domotics and personal devices.

The start-up Izicap won the Startup Challenge thanks to a marketing and loyalty-building solution that turns consumer bank cards into loyalty cards, and by the same token, makes payment terminals customer relations management tools in their own right.

The Innovation TV was one of the new additions in 2015, and hosted more than 50 speakers over the three-days.

Claire de Longeaux, the Exhibition's Director, shared her perspective: "CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS 2015 opened its doors - just days after the 13 November attacks in Paris - under circumstances which no one could have imagined. We are all the more grateful and proud of the exhibitors, who made the extra effort so that the event could take place. On the visitors' end, yes, participation was lower than expected. Yet in that respect too, in our deeply-shaken environment, the industry came through and mobilised, and it is our pleasure to announce that CARTES SECURE CONNEXIONS was, once again this year, THE world's foremost event for payment and identification technologies. We already look forward to welcoming you to TRUSTECH 2016 next November.

“The unveiling of The St. Regis Dubai marks an important milestone for the brand as we rapidly grow our profile in the Middle East,” said Jim Petrus, Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts. “This debut represents our fourth property in the region since the opening of The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi almost four years ago, and with The St. Regis Dubai, we are thrilled to be able to offer the renowned St. Regis experience to luxury travelers from around the globe.”

New World Address in the Heart of Dubai The French beaux-arts architecture and neo-classical interiors of The St. Regis Dubai pay homage The St. Regis New York, the brand’s original hotel which opened in 1904 at the best address in Manhattan on the corner of 55th Street and Fifth Avenue. Guests entering The St. Regis Dubai are welcomed by the dazzling sight of a chandelier comprising 1,200 pieces of hand-cut crystal, illuminating the majestic grand staircase. St. Regis’ commitment to art and design is brought to life with outstanding artwork throughout the hotel, including a vintage Bentley inspired mural in the St. Regis Bar.

The St. Regis Dubai features 234 guestrooms, including 52 suites, each offering a bright, airy ambience with impeccable details such as chandeliers, marble bathrooms and signature St. Regis beds. Spanning 913sqm, the three-bedroom, two-story Royal Suite is located in the central dome of the building, featuring a rooftop plunge pool, vast living room with an elegant dining room, study, lounge area and spacious majlis.

The hotel’s custom-designed one-bedroom Bentley Suite, inspired by the bespoke craftsmanship of the Bentley Mulsanne, is the first of its kind in the Middle East. Offering the ultimate expression of luxury, the leather finishes, colors, patterns and wood veneers combine the glamour of Bentley with the impeccable elegance of the St. Regis brand. All guests at The St. Regis Dubai will experience renowned hallmarks of the luxury hospitality brand, including signature St. Regis Butler Service, providing anticipatory service and customization at each stay according to specific guest tastes and preferences.

Distinctive Culinary Journey The St. Regis Dubai extends culinary excellence across its eight dining venues. Brasserie Quartier is a modern interpretation of a French brasserie serving redefined French favorites. J&G Steakhouse offers a sophisticated collection of steakhouse classics as reimagined by the ‘greatest hits’ of cuisine inspired by Michelin-starred chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Set amongst lush gardens, The Roof Gardens is an intimate outdoor venue with stylish cabanas for in-house guests. Cafe Fleuri is reminiscent of a 1930s Parisien cafe while Le Patio evokes idyllic moments in a rustic courtyard cafe surrounded by olive trees.

Following the tradition of the Bloody Mary cocktail, which was first created at The St. Regis New York, the St. Regis Bar offers the Golden Mary, a sweet and savory cocktail made with yellow tomato juice with gold leaf accents. In The Champagne Lounge, sommeliers perform the St. Regis evening ritual of champagne sabering. Guests can enjoy the signature St. Regis afternoon tea at Sidra alongside uninterupted views of landscaped gardens.

Luxurious Facilities and Exceptional Events Offering complete relaxation, Iridium® Spa consists of six treatment rooms (three male, three female), two hammams and separate female and male wet areas with steam room and sauna. The St. Regis Dubai also features a 24-hour fitness center, two rooftop swimming pools and a private helipad.

The hotel is the best address for special occasions including extravagant weddings and executive roundtable meetings, including the prestigious 800-square-meter Astor Ballroom, six meeting rooms and beautiful landscaped gardens perfect for al fresco events.

To celebrate the debut of the St. Regis brand in Dubai the hotel is offering a special opening rate of AED 1904++ ($ 518++) per room per night, paying tribute to the year 1904 when the first St. Regis hotel opened in New York City. The brand will enter Jordan with The St. Regis Amman in 2016, and will open in 2018 its first polo resort, The St. Regis Dubai Al Habtoor Polo Resort and Club, in partnership with Al Habtoor Group.

Samsung Bioepis' RENFLEXIS® Infliximab Biosimilar Receives Regulatory Approval in Korea

INCHEON, Korea - Friday, December 4th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd. today announced that Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) has approved RENFLEXIS® – a biosimilar version of Remicade® (infliximab), also known as SB2 – for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease, pediatric Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, pediatric ulcerative colitis, psoriatic arthritis and plaque psoriasis. This marks the second regulatory approval for Samsung Bioepis in Korea. The MFDS approved in September 2015 Samsung Bioepis’ BRENZYS®, a biosimilar version of Enbrel® (etanercept), also known as SB4.

“We look forward to the introduction of RENFLEXIS® in Korea, where patients suffering from autoimmune diseases will soon have access to an affordable, high-quality biologic treatment option,” said Christopher Hansung Ko, President & CEO of Samsung Bioepis. “With an extensive pipeline of biosimilars on the way, we will continue to leverage our strengths in product development and quality assurance to bring these life-enhancing medications to patients who need them most.”

Samsung Bioepis is solely responsible for the development of all immunology and oncology biosimilars in its pipeline, including RENFLEXIS®, as well as global clinical trials and regulatory registration in all markets worldwide for these biosimilars. As according to the commercialization agreement signed in 2013 with Merck, MSD Korea will be responsible for the marketing, sales and distribution of RENFLEXIS® in Korea.

In a 54-week Phase 3 clinical study, RENFLEXIS® showed comparable safety and equivalent efficacy to Remicade®, as evidenced in ACR20 response rate of 65.3% in the RENFLEXIS® arm versus 69.2% in the Remicade® arm. The RENFLEXIS® study randomized 584 patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis despite methotrexate therapy across 73 sites in 11 countries.

In addition to RENFLEXIS®, Samsung Bioepis has been developing two other anti-tumor necrosis factor-alpha (anti-TNF-α) investigational biosimilar candidates, the latest developments for which are as follows:

SB4 investigational biosimilar candidate referencing Enbrel® (etanercept): On November 9, 2015 at the Annual Meeting of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the Association for Rheumatology Health Professionals (ARHP) in San Francisco, Samsung Bioepis announced 52-week Phase 3 SB4 clinical study results that showed comparable safety and equivalent efficacy to Enbrel®, as evidenced in ACR20 response rate of 80.8% in the SB4 arm versus 81.5% in the Enbrel® arm. The SB4 study randomized 596 patients across 70 sites in 10 countries. In September 2015, Korea’s MFDS approved SB4, which will be commercialized by MSD Korea as BRENZYS®. In November 2015, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopted a positive opinion on SB4, marking the first time the CHMP has adopted a positive opinion on an etanercept biosimilar. If a marketing authorization is granted by the European Commission (EC), SB4 will be commercialized in the European Union (EU) as Benepali®.

SB5 investigational biosimilar candidate referencing Humira® (adalimumab): On November 10, 2015 at the ACR/ARHP Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Samsung Bioepis announced 24-week Phase 3 clinical study results that showed comparable safety and equivalent efficacy to Humira®, as evidenced in ACR20 response rate of 72.5% in the SB5 arm versus 72.0% in the Humira® arm. The study randomized 544 patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis despite methotrexate therapy across 52 sites in seven countries.

About Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd. Samsung Bioepis was established in 2012 with a mission to develop affordable, high-quality biopharmaceutical products and to provide better patient access to these life-enhancing medications. Intertek Sub Sahara Africa Delivers Agricultural Services Workshops in Frame of the 2015 International Year of Soils

GENEVA - Friday, December 4th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intertek, a leading provider of quality services to a wide range of industries around the world, has been providing a number of educational and practical workshops on soil management to Small-scale Farmers, Farmer Groups and Production Companies in several countries in Sub Sahara Africa during 2015.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2015 as the International Year of Soils and Intertek Agricultural Services has supported players in the agri supply chain with expert knowledge on soil health and sustainable farming, as well as on crop management. Sub Sahara Africa is a region with strong agricultural potential and considerable future population growth. Therefore it is a key area for Intertek’s pre-harvest as well as post-harvest Agricultural Services.

The focus of the workshops was to create awareness of the crucial importance of proper soil management. The risks of soil contamination and soil erosion were considered, as well as the correct use of fertilisation to enhance soil productivity. In this respect, Precision Agriculture was put forward as a powerful tool to increase yields while developing responsible use of land and resources.

Also the monitoring of Aflatoxins (moulds) in crops was addressed in the workshops. Aflatoxins are one of the key causes of post-harvest crop losses. Up to 20% of all agricultural commodities grown in Africa are lost in the post-harvest process. Awareness and management of crop quality by farmers is crucial to increase crop conservation and to mitigate losses of valuable harvests.

Intertek Agricultural Services in Sub Sahara Africa provides both Precision Agriculture services as well as Crop Quality Management services. Precision Agriculture enables improved farming practices, for smallholder and big farmers alike, by supporting better risk management and higher crop yields. The Intertek Crop Quality Management Toolkit affords farmers, as well as transporters, traders and storage holders, the equipment to correctly monitor crop condition.

These services are backed by the presence of the flagship Soil Laboratory of Intertek, based in Johannesburg. This laboratory is accredited ISO17025 for analysis of products from farm to fork.
