Counter to Introduce Traffic Black Points Reduction Program at Abu Dhabi Licensing Department

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, November 24th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) designated a counter for the Traffic Black Points Reduction Program in the reception of the customer service in the main center in Abu Dhabi; which falls in line with the directives of the Police Follow-up Department at the General Secretariat of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior.

Lieutenant Colonel Saif Obaid Al Khaili, Head of the Police Follow-up Department, explained that this step reflects the keenness of the policing departments to jointly promote awareness to the public. He said: “The counter will receive the enquiries from the public daily over the course of a week.

The employees that are staffing the counter are ready to answer any questions that customers may have, and register those that are willing to participate in the program. These steps will be taken in order to raise the level of communication with the public and the services provided- with special care taken to reach the largest possible sector of the public.”

Drivers interested in the Traffic Black Points Reduction Program may call the direct line at 600566006 regarding any inquiry, to register, or to regain their revoked driving licenses on condition of having fulfilled the requirements.

It is worth mentioning that the program aims to provide drivers with the chance to avoid having their licenses revoked and to improve the behavior of drivers. Lectures provided to the participants during the program will help rehabilitate drivers and remind them of the risks of committing violations - which could lead to revoking their license.

The Police Follow-up Department, represented by the Traffic Black Points Program Section, works to educate drivers, and to provide services to reduce the traffic black points and the violations which may lead to having their licenses revoked.

Canon Meets Secure Printing Needs of MENA Organisations with Universal Login Manager

Dubai, United Arabic Emirates - Monday, November 24th 2014 [ME NewsWire]

A recent printer usage survey conducted by Canon Middle East among 1000 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) throughout the GCC have shed light on the fact that individuals are prone to confidential data being leaked at the printer tray.

The findings showed that 65% of respondents revealed they have misplaced both confidential personal and corporate documents at the printer tray as they are not aware of secure print features. This clearly highlights most SMEs are in danger of losing critical information that could hamper business growth and the need for users to utilise features that enable them to print documents securely.

In light of this, Canon Middle East, a leader in imaging and business solutions has embarked on a user awareness campaign to enable organisations to educate and equip individuals to securely print documents. Canon’s Universal Login Manager (ULM) and uniFLOW solution is designed to address this requirement in the MENA region

“Paper records are the most significant source of a data breach, second only to losing a laptop or other data device. Canon has addressed this issue with its unique Universal Login Manager (ULM) solution. ULM delivers convenient user authentication through proximity cards or picture logins. With ULM, confidential jobs can be held centrally on a print server and are only released when the user authenticates at the device. The user can go to any device in any location with the knowledge that their job will be printed securely,” said Hendrik Verbrugghe, Marketing Director, Canon Middle East.

uniFLOW - Secure Printing

For larger organisations, taking security to the next level is possible with the uniFLOW Secure Printing solution. Through this users can send their sensitive documents to network printers and have the job printed only when they are physically standing in front of the printer. This could be a printer on a different floor, building, city or even in a different country.

This is particularly beneficial in regular office scenarios where users send the same document to print many times after making corrections, users send print jobs to the wrong printer, if a printer is unavailable, they need to walk back to their PC and re-send their document to another printer and at the end sometimes printed documents are left unattended at printer and picked up by the wrong person

Swipe and Avatar Login

With this feature, users need to swipe their ID, click on their avatar, or enter their user name and password to login. For additional security, a second level of authentication can be implemented by requiring pin code entry after swiping the ID or selecting an avatar.

Control Access Management

Organisations can secure their printer from unauthorised usage and control usage rights based on user roles. For example, for employees who print a lot of unnecessary colour documents, restrict printing to black and white duplex. Employees who handle sensitive documentation can have scanning rights removed to increase security of these documents.

Alia Al Rumaithi... a Distinguished Radio Figure at the Security Media

Breaks the sound barrier and ascends steadily towards glory

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates - Friday, November 21st 2014 [ME NewsWire]

With firm calm strides and aspirations that are highly consistent with her scientific and literary potentials, Alia Al Rumaithi went way beyond the sound barrier as a part of her work at the Security Media Department, the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior. Thanks to her diligent follow-up of media work and unstinting efforts to advance to higher ranks, she managed to leave a remarkable imprint on the media material provided by the Radio Branch that she manages skillfully, particularly ideas and programs that have contributed directly to enhancing security and traffic awareness among the public.

Alia Al Rumaithi, Radio Branch Manager at the Security Media Department and Media and Public Relations graduate with a Master's degree in Management, emphasized that she had no previous plans to enter the world of broadcast media such as the radio.  It was sheer  coincidence that she walked into the Security Media Department at Abu Dhabi Police, only to become one of the pioneering founders of this promising branch, which managed within few years to make a qualitative leap in  terms of communicating daily with the public and news producers across various Arab and foreign radio stations; in addition to its continuous interaction with live streaming programs in the country to convey  remarks and suggestions to the public and respond to their queries.

Vision and Message

Thanks to the expertise and extensive academic knowledge of broadcast media she had gained during her studies, achieving the vision and objective of establishing a radio station targeting the public was an easy task for Alia Al Rumaithi. She commenced her work by preparing awareness messages and cultural information that were intended for the vast majority of community members who listen to the radio while driving.  “This has contributed to delivering a package of information to the largest segment of society in Arabic and English, and most recently in Indian,” she continued.

Daily bulletins

Daily radio broadcasting, which has become one of the distinguished features of the Security Media, was not limited to short-awareness messages; a daily news bulletin was introduced to provide the public with traffic reports Sunday through Thursday that are broadcast three times during peak hours (morning, noon and evening hours). These reports are followed by short messages and awareness tips, in addition to invitations to the public to attend the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s various events.

 A significant link

In the same context, Alia Al Rumaithi indicated the existence of a weekly police news bulletin, which sheds the light on the most important police-related news that occurred during the week, with reference to the feedback provided by the public via live streaming programs. She also pointed out that all news bulletins are broadcast daily in coordination with most radio stations across the UAE, which amount to 23 local, Arab, and foreign radio broadcast stations. She also pointed out to the constant communication with live programs producers who are keen to host police officials in order to shed the light on issues related to campaigns, conferences and events. “The radio has become a significant link between the public and various departments at the Ministry of Interior,” she noted.

A Modern Studio

To keep pace with the rapid development of the Radio Branch, officials established a radio studio by the end of 2010. The studio was fitted with the latest and most advanced equipment to present the police news bulletins, record audio materials, and other sound/voice items related to radio broadcasting. Commenting on this qualitative leap, which caused a radical change in broadcasting and presentation, Al Rumaithi said, “Building our own studio has contributed to reducing the financial costs and minimizing time and effort. This has enabled the Radio Branch to stop relying on private production companies, especially regarding advertising materials and audio commentaries during events and occasions. We became fully capable of preparing script pertaining to all of the police-related campaigns and events and then recording these scripts at the Security Media’s studio”.
