Takeda Recognized as the 2022 ISPE Facility of the Year Awards Winner in Two Categories

 OSAKA, Japan & CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-Friday 29 April 2022 [ AETOS Wire ]

- Groundbreaking “Make to Order” Process for Stem Cell Therapy Wins Supply Chain Category

− Vaccine Facility in Singen, Germany, Wins Pharma 4.0 Category for Applying Digital Technologies in Production Process

− Recognition Illustrates Takeda’s Patient-Centricity Throughout its Manufacturing and Supply Processes

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Takeda (TSE:4502/NYSE:TAK) today announced that the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) has awarded the company top honors in the Supply Chain and Pharma 4.0™ categories for the 2022 Facility of the Year Awards (FOYA). In the Supply Chain category, Takeda was awarded for its implementation of a new patient-focused supply chain for its allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell therapy; and Takeda’s vaccine production facility in Singen, Germany, won in the Pharma 4.0 category.

“Our approach to manufacturing is driven by our unwavering commitment to address patient needs. These awards further reinforce this mission and showcase the innovation taking place at our state-of-the-art facilities to develop and deliver breakthrough treatments,” says Thomas Wozniewski, global manufacturing and supply officer at Takeda. “We’re proud to be recognized by ISPE in two FOYA categories and look forward to continuing our digital transformation.”

The Supply Chain FOYA recognizes the novel application of principles, systems and management tools aimed at improving operational speed, robustness and response. This award acknowledges Takeda’s work to completely rethink the supply chain management program for Takeda’s first allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell therapy, of which the time for final product to patient administration is just 72 hours. Due to the short shelf-life of allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell therapy and the need for seamless cold chain transportation, speed is essential. Takeda introduced a cloud-based control tower platform to connect its ecosystem (hospitals, transportation companies, plants, business units) for a “make to order” process. The platform enables hospitals to book a manufacturing slot directly via a web portal, then track the final product delivery status through end-to-end visibility and alerts at each step of the supply chain.

In the Pharma 4.0 category, ISPE recognizes facilities which showcase how innovation in advanced digital technologies leads to improved outcomes in terms of safety, product quality and productivity in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Takeda’s vaccine facility in Singen, Germany was built with state-of-the-art process equipment and layered with advanced digital technologies in key areas. In addition, Takeda has a sponsored research collaboration with the School of Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop the application to increase inspection accuracy and reduce low false reject rates during routine operations.

About the ISPE Facility of the Year Awards Program

Established in 2004, the Facility of the Year Awards (FOYA) recognizes state-of-the-art projects utilizing new, innovative technologies to improve the quality of products, reduce the cost of producing high-quality medicines, and demonstrate advances in project delivery. The FOYA program provides a platform for the pharmaceutical science and manufacturing industry to showcase its accomplishments in facility design, construction, and operations, while sharing the development of new applications of technology and cutting-edge approaches. GoCardless Welcomes Paul Stoddart as President

Newly minted unicorn strengthens leadership team with former Vocalink and Mastercard executive to accelerate strategy execution

LONDON-Wednesday 4 May 2022 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- GoCardless, a leader in direct bank payment solutions, today announced the appointment of Paul Stoddart as President. Stoddart joins from Mastercard where he was President of its New Payment Platforms, Executive Chairman of Vocalink and a Member of the Mastercard Management Committee. In his new role at GoCardless he will have global responsibility for the go-to-market organisation including the Strategy, Sales, Product, Marketing and Customer teams, with a view to accelerating growth and achieving the company’s ambition to become the world’s bank payment network.

Stoddart brings a wealth of experience to GoCardless. He was named as Chief Executive Officer of Vocalink after its acquisition by Mastercard and subsequently promoted to President of Mastercard’s New Payment Platforms where he led the establishment and growth of a business unit that expanded Mastercard’s role in payments beyond cards to account-to-account payments. Prior to Vocalink he was Co-Head of Corporate Finance at Barclaycard. He also spent 10 years at NatWest where he held a number of senior roles including in their merchant acquiring and e-commerce business, Worldpay.

His appointment comes as the company broadens its offering of direct bank payment solutions for both one-off and recurring payments and builds out its suite of payment intelligence products to help businesses manage their payments more effectively. GoCardless will benefit from Stoddart’s expertise as it doubles down on account-to-account payments, with plans to release its Variable Recurring Payment feature shortly in the UK and expand Instant Bank Pay, its solution for one-off payments, across Europe.

Hiroki Takeuchi, co-founder and CEO at GoCardless, said: “This year marks an inflection point at GoCardless as we expand beyond recurring payments to serve a broader range of customer segments and payment use cases. Having the right people to lead us on this journey is critical as we scale our business, develop new products and services with open banking, and explore new markets. Paul has a unique depth of experience across both card and non-card payments and is well-positioned to help us seize the opportunities that will make GoCardless a force to be reckoned with in the payments space.”

Paul Stoddart, President at GoCardless, said: “GoCardless is in an incredibly exciting place right now. Hiroki and the team have already built a successful business by solving real customer problems. They have the foundations of a global bank pay network that will go from strength to strength as more businesses and people embrace account-to-account payments from bank debit to open banking-enabled payments. We will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in payments. In this new role at GoCardless I’ll have the opportunity to be part of the team building the new generation of payment solutions to do just that, with customer needs at the forefront.”

Stoddart’s appointment comes as GoCardless continues to accelerate its growth following its latest funding round of US$312 million in February. In the intervening months, GoCardless released its second open banking-enabled feature, Verified Mandates, in the UK and Success+, its ‘payment intelligence’ product which uses machine learning to identify the optimal day to recover failed payments, in the US.

In the UK, GoCardless recently signed its first Variable Recurring Payment customers and plans to introduce VRPs in both ‘sweeping’ and ‘non-sweeping’ forms over the coming months. By mid-2022, GoCardless will also integrate PayTo into its global bank payment platform in time for the regulated launch in Australia.

About GoCardless

GoCardless is a global leader in direct bank payment solutions, making it easy to collect both recurring and one-off payments directly from customers' bank accounts through direct debit and open banking. The GoCardless global payments network and technology platform take the pain out of getting paid for 70,000 businesses worldwide, from multinational corporations to small businesses. U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Visits Deployment of Velodyne Lidar’s Intelligent Infrastructure Solution at Morgan State

 SAN JOSE, Calif.-Wednesday 4 May 2022 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- Velodyne Lidar, Inc. (Nasdaq: VLDR, VLDRW) announced U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg visited a deployment of Velodyne’s Intelligent Infrastructure Solution (IIS) in a tour to highlight the Department’s investments in infrastructure. The projects he reviewed, which includes Velodyne’s IIS, play a key role in what he said is the future of transportation infrastructure.

Morgan State University, a historically Black college in Baltimore, hosted U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for a campus visit and tour of its National Transportation Center lab. Velodyne’s IIS was a featured part of the Secretary’s tour in the University’s Urban Mobility and Equity Center. Secretary Buttigieg reviewed various sensor outputs generated by Velodyne’s Ultra Puck and discussed potential IIS applications with Morgan State students. The solution, deployed in partnership with Bluecity and Iteris, is installed at one of the main intersections into the university to collect traffic data and safety analytics.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s work implementing new infrastructure programs means more investment by the public sector into the latest transportation technologies. New programs under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – like the Safe Streets and Roads for All and SMART grant program – will advance safety, equity and sustainability on our roads.

Buttigieg said, “We're living through a period of extraordinary change in technology, some of the technologies that are being developed and managed right here.”

“We are seeing our solution in action across the globe, providing real-time data and analytics on things like near-misses and vulnerable road user activity,” said Sally Frykman, Chief Marketing Officer, Velodyne Lidar. “With pedestrian fatalities at an all-time high and disproportionately represented across disadvantaged communities, reliable and high performing technology can bring much needed safety to the underserved.”

About Intelligent Infrastructure Solution

Intelligent Infrastructure Solution delivers traffic monitoring and analytics to improve road safety, efficiency and air quality, and help cities plan for smarter, safer transportation systems. The full stack solution, combining Velodyne’s award-winning lidar sensors and Bluecity’s AI software, is deployed across three continents, including systems rolled out in Texas, Florida, Nevada, California, New Jersey, Missouri and Canada.

By improving traffic flow and reducing congestion, Intelligent Infrastructure Solution advances energy efficiency and reduces greenhouse gas emissions for a more sustainable future. Recently, the solution won the 2022 SXSW Innovation Awards by the South by Southwest Conference and Festivals. In 2021, Intelligent Infrastructure Solution received a Smart 50 Award presented by Smart Cities Connect to honor the 50 most transformative smart cities projects in the world.

Rossoneri Wear RE:JERSEY – AC Milan Players Don Special PUMA Jerseys as Part of Innovative Recycling Project

  HERZOGENAURACH, Germany-Wednesday 4 May 2022 [ AETOS Wire ]

(BUSINESS WIRE) -- The players of AC Milan wore special jerseys before the start of their Serie A match against Fiorentina on Sunday, which were made with an innovative garment-to-garment recycling method as part of PUMA’s RE:JERSEY project. AC Milan's women’s team will also wear the jerseys ahead of the Serie A match against Inter FC on May 7.

With RE:JERSEY, PUMA aims to reduce waste and pave the way towards more circular production models in the future. Sustainability is also a key value for AC Milan, which has committed to sustainable and social responsibility initiatives, with a particular focus on younger generations.

While PUMA’s football kits on the market today are already made from 100% recycled polyester, the RE:JERSEY shirts worn ahead of Sunday’s game are made with 75% repurposed football jerseys. The remaining 25% comes from SEAQUAL ® MARINE PLASTIC1.

“We are excited that AC Milan has joined us to be a part of the RE:JERSEY project,” said Matthias Baeumer, General Manager BU Teamsport at PUMA. “As we want to take more responsibility when it comes to the end of life of our products, RE:JERSEY is an important step in garment-to-garment recycling.”

In the recycling process used for the RE:JERSEY project, even old garments that feature logos, embroideries and club badges can be used, as the material is chemically broken down into its main components (depolymerization). Colors are then filtered out and the material is chemically put back together to create a yarn (repolymerization) that has the same performance characteristics as virgin polyester.

As part of the project, AC MILAN and PUMA will set up collection bins, where fans will be able to donate their old polyester items, which will be used for the RE:JERSEY project.

“AC Milan is a Club that truly believes in the social value of football. Sustainability is an important value for all of us at the Club, we need to do our part to protect the future of our planet, so we are delighted to join this initiative with our partner PUMA and be part of the RE:JERSEY project,” said Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer at AC Milan.

PUMA

PUMA is one of the world’s leading sports brands, designing, developing, selling and marketing footwear, apparel and accessories. FTFT Capital #CryptoCredibitlity campaign educates and employs students

The Global Blockchain Business Council UAE Ambassador and his team endeavor to get the youth involved in the crypto and blockchain movement in the UAE.

Nasdaq listed FTFT Capital have launched a #CryptoCredibility campaign designed to help students be more well versed with blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The campaign focuses on positively engaging students to help them gain a stronger understanding of the technology and lift their confidence.

The campaign is the brainchild of Ola Lind, Director - FTFT Capital and Global Blockchain Business Council UAE Ambassador whose vision is to short bridge the gap between mass adoption and the current dynamics of the crypto ecosystem by providing a platform for blockchain innovation and education.

Three students have managed to secure an internship with guest speaker Ed H., founder of TakeCapital and an active GBBC member; and  as a result of the first session that was held at Murdoch University Dubai led by the speaker Dr Neda Keshavarzi, Research Development Specialist at FTFT Capital Investments.

The hour-long interactive session introduced the young adults to the world of cryptocurrency, talking about the different kinds of cryptocurrencies, their uses and a brief introduction on how to get started. FTFT Capital is leveraging its employees, customers and contacts for this campaign to offer students a hands-on-immersive learning experience and the opportunity whenever possible to secure employment or internships that will allow them to learn alongside industry leaders, develop their own projects, and hone their skills and expertise in the sector.

Gearing up the rest 26% of the population

A report by YouGov showed that 68% of young adults (18-24) in the UAE are seeking to invest in cryptocurrencies in the next 5 years; however 20% of them stated that they don't have enough knowledge about it.

And with  social media often portraying cryptocurrency as a get-rich-quick scheme, it has ensnared a large number of young adults and students who, fearful of missing out, invest without adequate information or investigation.

“With major improvements taking place in the crypto and blockchain field, we want the younger generation to look at this as a full-fledged career path rather than just an investment,” said Ola Lind, Director of FTFT Capital.

Empowering the students of the $26 billion industry through hands-on-learning

With a transaction value of $26 billion, the UAE is currently the third largest Crypto market in the Middle East, after only Turkey and Lebanon. Despite the fact that the internet is packed with online learning material, there are relatively few opportunities to put your knowledge  into practice. This attempt to empower students will accelerate the UAE's development and improve their standing in the Middle East making them the main hub for blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

Through this program, FTFT Capital is harnessing the talents of their staff and their connections to provide the best experiences to the students. Along with their technical expertise, the speakers offer a personal touch to the campaign by discussing their own experiences, such as Ed's, who first became active in the cryptocurrency industry when Bitcoin was just worth 0.6 USD.

Do you research before you invest

With so much buzz about cryptocurrencies on social media, it's no surprise that queries about the "safest crypto investment," "how to invest," and "platforms to trust" began to stream in.

"I read 25 whitepapers every day" "It is absolutely indisputable that you read at least 5 whitepapers every day and familiarize yourself with the entire concept before you start investing," said Ed H.

A bid to strengthen the Nation's move in becoming the industry hub for Blockchain and Crypto

This move by FTFT Capital comes in support of Dubai's bid to become the industry hub for blockchain and cryptocurrencies, urging the youth to take an active part in this vision by educating themselves about the know-how of the technology and understating its potential and risk.
